Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. See more here…

Faces of India 317 Raipur

I have always wondered why dhabaa (roadside inn) tea tastes very good! One look at the concentration on this tea seller’s face I knew why. We were a group of bloggers traveling to Dantewada from Raipur by road. We halted here at the famous Makri Dhabaa for ginger flavored tea. It was worth a halt, the taste and flavor still lingers in my mind.

  • Love the shot of chai and human emotions that lay hidden…may be pain! Nothing beats the chai in Dabba:)

  • I agree with you and the taste of tea on roadside stalls doesn’t come anywhere! Nice shots

I had spent a lots of years of my life in Chchattisgarh travelling Raipur to Dantewada, Konta, Sukma Jagdalpur and even to Koraput. I loved the area, the adivasis and the road side dhabas for their teas and food, and a welcome shout from the dhabawala”aao, baadshaao. Arrey Khatia lagao, dari bichao” and what not. Feel like paying extra for the warm reception

  • Nice capture, road side tea shops are quite interesting.

  • Dhaba Tea is the best any day. No road trip is complete without a chai at Dhaba.

  • Loved Tea of Dhabaa’s 🙂
    Nice post and pics.

  • I love how expertly they handle their work without a drop or spill!

  • Dhaaba tea is the best! 🙂 No fancy tea shop can beat it ever 🙂

  • Dhaba tea does have a charm of its own, Indrani!

  • Totally agree with your observation regarding concentration part, Indrani. Makri Dhabaa is registered in my mind.

  • This is one of the very known faces of India. We have chai wala like him in every part of our country. So apt for the theme.
