Faces of India – 313, from Chhattisgarh

Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Faces of India from Chhattisgarh

He is a young local of Dholkal, Chhattisgarh. This young boy has taken up the responsibility of keeping the idol Ganesha and the surroundings clean. I saw him removing old garlands and other offerings of flowers and incense sticks from and around the idol of Ganesha. He was a guide to our team from the foothill and helped us keep to our track during the trek. I was told he isn’t paid for all this but does it out of interest. Since there was language barrier we couldn’t speak much. He goes to a local school and is in 8th grade.
