Faces of India – 299 Devotee seeking Alms

Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Faces of India

She was a member of group of devotees seeking small donations in front of a temple. One cannot call them beggars because they usually have a small picture or sculpted image of Gods and Goddesses. So by offering money you are actually offering money to the Gods that they carry around. They in return bless you.

I told if you allow me to take a picture I will donate some money.  This lady was in particular very keen to be photographed and she balanced her little basket having the image of God on her head and posed happily.
