Faces of India – 297 Pujari of Madhukeshwara Temple Banavasi

He is the junior pujari of Madhukeshwara Temple Banavasi, in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. At such an young age he has mastered many scriptures. When I looked impressed he said: nothing great about that, we have to learn all these to become pujari.

He impressed me further when he told us the history of the temple and the stories related to several sculptures in the temple. It is out of interest he gathered all such information. Does he earn enough? I have not faced any difficulty yet – was his immediate answer. Do search him out in the temple if you want a guide there.

You can see him in his complete dress below.
