Faces of India – 288 Guard in Khaba Fort Jaisalmer

Faces of India

a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. I met this young security guard at Khaba Fort, Jaisalmer. He seemed very cheerful and conversed with him for a while. I was more curious to know if he had seen any ghosts in the ruined village of Kuldhara.

(you can read the story of haunted village of Kuldhara in my post: Khaba Fort, Location, History and Visit to Museum.)

His working hours are during day and at night the fort is shut.
Me: Have you seen anything unusual.
He: No nothing.

What about the stories of the village being haunted I asked. Yes he said there are stories, they have always been there and it doesn’t bother him much.

I guess when you grow up with such haunted stories from childhood they begin to seem normal to you and the curiosity is no longer there. He was smiling away at my curiosity.

  • haunted village stories would be fascinating to listen to. I like to hear the legend has it or why places have a history of being haunted. The Indian museum would also be interesting to see and learn. I always take my kids to museums since they were small, now I take my grandson when I can visit.

  • I love your blog’s concept – featuring the people of India. I was planning to create one too but since I am quite busy, I don’t have enough time yet to work on this. However, I am looking forward to making one in the future. On the side note, I definitely agree with this man. When you grow up with all those kinds of stories, curiosity would just definitely fade away.
