Faces of India – 266 Daughter takes Dad’s Role

Faces of India,

Faces of India is a series through which I intend to portray the various characters of my country whom I met during my travels. I bring back souvenirs, frozen moments from my travels, why not some memories of people I have met and interacted during the travels. Faces of India is a weekly series in my blog since MARCH 2011. Daughter takes Dad's Role

Daughter takes Dad’s Role

Can you make at least fraction of a guess about what she is doing?

I spotted her during the walking tour of Bangalore heritage sites during the event #makeheritagefun. Her hand on her hip, her bright dress crumpled at places, hair tied up casually with fading blue ribbons, her intent gaze made her look extremely smart. She was not keen about my photography, my Canon or me photographing her. So? Could you make any guess?

A pure picture of Daughter takes Dad’s Role. She stood there seriously doing the duty of her father. How proud and responsible she looked, I thought.

Her father is a security guard at the site we visited, but had gone out for some urgent errand she told us. She had temporarily taken up his role and saw to it that we entered our details in the register meant for visitors. Not once did she take her eyes off when the details were being filled.

“You study in school?’ I asked her. “Of course I do.” She replied with a what do you mean? attitude.
