Durga Puja 2014 Puja Pandals, Bangalore

It is the eyes of Ma Durga that fascinates me the most. Each pandal I go I try to observe the expression and feelings depicted by the eyes. Ma Durga is actually in a very angry mood while slaying Mahisasur, the demon in the form of buffalo. The artists while painting the eyes must have definitely tried to convey the emotions. But then only few come anywhere near the angry expression, most of the idols have a gentle loving look.

Here are a set of 4 more pandals. The idols have all been immersed now, just the memories remain.

The one below is from JP Nagar. Ma Durga and her 4 children placed together under one arch. The lighting was good here.

Kormangala, Bangalore had 3 pandals. One had the monochrome idols that I showed here. This pandal had very simply attired idols in white clothes, with no crowns on their heads. The artist has painted fire sparks from the third eye depicting anger.
