Dahlia Profile

A section of flower shows in Lal Bagh, Bangalore is always dominated by Dahlias. A wide variety of this species is presented. The sizes the fully matured blooming flowers attain are sometimes as big as plates. The shades of colors are amazing; when so many are placed together it is almost a riot.

Dahlia is the national flower of Mexico and is named after the 18th century botanist Anders Dahl. A Dahlia profile below.

    I never thought to wonder how they got their name! Thank you for that bit of information! I would love to have them, but I do not trust myself to lift the corms or tubers or whatever in the fall, and to plant it again in the spring…
