Cycles Everywhere

Cycles; they are the most common sight in any road. So common that, photographers often ignores them. I always thought with technological advances in vehicles these species of vehicles, the bicycles have become endangered species in cities. But, no! They form a good chunk of traffic.

A couple of shots here, little different from the regular sights: The first one taken in Basel, result of strong winds.

The shot below is unexplainable by me. It was taken in Zurich lake.

  • Dear Indrani,

yes the bike has us in Switzerland again very important. Unfortunately, many of these bikes stolen and then thrown away.

For your first photo: you've taken in Basel at the marketplace and not in Berne.

I am happy again, if I may read your blog from your Switzerland travel to the …

    Many greetings from Switzerland

  • Its actually nice to see cycles on the road! wish more people would use them ! though seeing them fallen like that seems sad…. as to the one in the lake, well, u never know what u will see!

  • The poor bikes, blown over and the last was "drowned".

  • Yes bicycles are very important in my country as well! We have special bicycle paths. Without my bike I would be lost!
Thanks for your comment on the eyes of my grandson. It appeared by accident for I was working on it.So I removed it again.

  • We see more riding bicycles here than normal. Some are doing it for exercise and others for cheaper transportation. Gas is very expensive here.

  • Thank you for the correction POESIE-LYRIK-HAIKU-KURZGESCHICHTEN-FOTOGRAFIE-H-P's FOTO ART. It was in Basel, it was raining there that day.

Thank you all for the thoughtful comments.

  • There must be a story behind the bicycle in the lake. Wouldn't it be interesting to know it? I rode a bicycle to work for most of my working years. I still think it is a wonderful mode of transportation.

  • Battered and bruised bikes. =( I wonder if the one in water had been stolen and tossed away. That's' quite a colorful train in the background.

Thanks for your visit and comment on my Thursday Challenge post. Hope you have a nice weekend.

  • 🙂 interesting captures!

thank you for your concern and good wishes on my post.

  • I thought in the first picture people just leave their bikes haphazardly on the street until you explained it was the wind. It must be safe there because no one locked their bike. Your second photo looks like a nice bike has sank into the water. I wonder how that happened.

  • hi indrani

    cycles everywhere………..

  • That's strange looking down first. Interesting cycles captures!

  • Very unusual and interesting shots for the theme!! 🙂

  • nice find! ^0^
    not your ordinary portrait.

  • Bikes are becoming more and more popular here, although one of the BIG stories today is how the City of Toronto is going to close down one of its bike lanes. The good news is public pressure is forcing the city to set up a new one on a nearby thoroughfare.

  • I have seen discarded bicycles in the most improbable places in my hiking into remote areas.
